When you are first adopting a puppy it can be really tempting to buy the fanciest pet supplies out there. I completely understand. However I really suggest before rushing in, that you start with some basic supplies first. Plus you never know if your new pup is going to be a chewer and then that incredible bed you just spent $$$$ on is destroyed. So before you splurge on dog items, start out with some simple yet cute basics from Ross.
Now that you know Ross is a place at least worth checking out, it’s important to understand whether you can bring your dog along. Understanding the pet policy at each store can be confusing but don’t worry, I’ve done the research for you. So read on to find out whether Ross allows dogs.
This post answers the question – Is Ross Pet Friendly?
Is Ross Pet Friendly:
You’ll be happy to know that yes – Ross is pet friendly in most cases! I’ve outlined a couple details below for you to keep in mind if you do plan to take your dog to Ross.
What is the Ross pet policy?
While there is no official pet policy for Ross, they generally do allow dogs. When a store does not have an official policy it is typically left up to the discretion of the local store manager. It’s important to be mindful of this when visiting each Ross location.
Please note: this is in reference to the general pet policy. Service animals are allowed.
Does Ross pet policy vary by location?
Yes! Each manager has the right to exercise their own discretion. Additionally, If there are local ordinances that do not allow dogs inside then the Ross location cannot allow you to bring your dog inside. Don’t worry there aren’t too many cities that have those ordinances in place.
I recommend always calling ahead to your local store to confirm.
Tips for taking your dog to Ross
If a Ross store is willing to allow dogs, it’s important to consider the other shoppers around you. Here are some ways you can make your trip to Ross with your dog as smooth as possible.
- Keep your dog leashed or contained at all times. Even if you have the best behaved dog in the world, you just never know how they may react in a new situation.
- Pick up after your pooch! Accidents happen (often at the worst of times). If your dog decides to go #1 or #2 in the store, kindly ask an associate for some cleaning supplies.
- Leave some space. Not everyone loves dogs (I know, it’s crazy) so please be sure to give those who are shopping some extra room. That way dog friendly stores can continue to be dog friendly!
- Prepare to be stopped. Let’s face it, your dog is probably the cutest which means you’ll likely be stopped by a fellow shopper or two. Make a plan to ensure your dog is comfortable.
Shopping With Your Dog at Ross
If you haven’t yet visited the pet section of Ross, you’re in for a real treat! You’ll find lots of great products at even greater prices. I’ve outlined the pet supplies you’ll for sure want to check out along with those that you may unfortunately want to avoid.
Ross Pet Supplies to Buy
Ross continuously rotates in new merchandise so it can definitely be hit or miss. It’s important to check often and all around. Here are some of the dog products I always check for.
- Toys – typically a few dollars less than you’ll find at other department stores but still equally as cute! Great to consider if you have a pup who loves to chew toys right up.
- Beds – you can find great deals on dog beds, be sure to check out the orthopedic options! They are actually really comfortable and great quality.
- Poop Bags – look if you’re spending money on bags to pick up our dogs poop with (which you probably will), you might as well get a good deal!
- Food Storage Containers – Ross typically has all kinds of storage containers, mostly for people, but you’ll find some great dog options as well.
- Stairs for Dogs – if your dog is getting older or is suffering from an injury that requires stairs be sure to check out Ross.
Ross Pet Supplies to Avoid
This is definitely up to your own preference but these are some items you may want to steer clear of.
- Dog Treats – You can usually find a variety of brands so although it can be fun to shop around, it’s best to buy your dogs treats elsewhere. Ross gets a large portion of inventory from other stores selling off extra merchandise. This means the products have likely already been on the shelves for awhile and will be approaching expiration.
- Dog Bones – Similarly to dog treats you may want to skip the dog bones and instead opt to buy at a local pet store. Dog bones can be very dangerous so it’s important to get the highest quality. Unfortunately dog bones flagged as dangerous are often still left on the market.
- Dog Shampoo – this product expires and is also often open. People get curious about the smells (understandably) but that makes it hard to tell why the product is open. You don’t want to purchase a product that has been tampered with. Plus opened dog shampoo can speed up the expiration process.
If you are going to try and purchase any of the items on the avoid list, be sure to check for expired and / or open products.
In conclusion, here are the things to know about the Ross Pet Policy:
- There is no official Ross Pet Policy however Ross is pet friendly in most cases.
- Whether Rossi is dog friendly or not can vary by location. It’s best to call and check with the local store to be sure.
So next time your dog wants to go pick out a new toy, take them to Ross so you can get yourself something nice too.
